Now that the weather has turned nicer it's going to be hard for me to find a good lunch. I don't want to buy lunch every day due to the budget and I don't eat sandwiches because of the carbs so I don't know what to pack to eat. (we aren't home a lot now because we are basking in the sun that has FINALLY shown it's face around here.) So yesterday I ended having four bowls of cereal for my meals. Two of granola and two of Grape Nuts. Other than some fruit and a few veggies that's what I ate yesterday. I need to come up with something else for today. We also went to Costco and I got the boys their usual frozen yogurt twist and I was very tempted to get one since I hadn't really eaten lunch, but I didn't! So I overcame the temptation!
It must be the season for the dentist. Anna yesterday, Dave and I both have appts. today and the little girl I babysit is going today, too. Why when she's only almost 2? I don't know. But to each his own.
Ben, I posted a comment on your baby news blog, too. Just FYI.
I'm sorry but I don't see the logic in not eating sandwiches because of the carbs but you ate 4 bowls of cereal in one day...cereal is ALL carbs right?
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe. But it wasn't like it was captain crunch or even kix or something. At least it was granola, right? I guess bread just feels heavier to me when I eat it. I feel good after granola still. I guess I don't make sense. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteIf you go by calories and not carbs then there are a lot more calories in a sandwich than one serving of cereal. I guess that's what I was doing yesterday. Whatever...
Granola is totally carbs, nothing but. I disagree about calories in cereal vs. sandwich...depends on the cereal and the sandwich I guess. And 1 serving of cereal is usually half what I would really want, so I would have to double those calories. for sandwiches are you talking like a turkey sandwich?... skip the cheese (you won't miss it) and use fat free italian dressing instead of mayo and you're way down on calories and get a good bread that has less than 100 calories...I think "Double the Fiber Bread" has 70 calories.
ReplyDeleteI just didn't get why you said you don't eat sandwiches cuz of the carbs but went on to eat 4 bowls full of carbs. and why eating 4 bowls of cereal was easy when you weren't even home? was just confused ;)
Just want to clear up the confusion. I only had time for cereal THAT day. I was in and out all day and didn't have time to make anything. I only ever eat the portion size that it says to eat on the box so I'm not over doing it there. I don't eat that many bowls of cereal ever. Just that day and won't again. I really like the granola cereal so I'm not giving it up. So if I'm going to have carbs I'm going to eat it there. I can skip the sandwich and eliminate some carbs for part of the day. That's what I meant by not having sandwiches. I choose to eat my carbs elsewhere. Plus I don't like mayo and I love cheese so I would miss it. But the italian dressing is a good idea. I've never heard of double the fiber bread. Is it like Squirrley Bread?
ReplyDelete(and in the granola I eat there are 200 calories per serving plus the milk. So it's 240 Calories total for one serving. If I used the bread we have in the cupboard right now I would get to 200 calories just in the bread.) We do have the flatbread sandwich buns in the freezer though. I could use them.
I hope none of that sounded mean. I just wanted to clear things up.
